Roborock Q7 L5 Review

If you want a mostly hands-off robot that actually handles pet hair and multi-level homes, buy this — it cleans reliably for days between maintenance while avoiding the usual brush tangles.

The quick answer

Price: £179.99. This is the best robotic convenience you can buy for busy, pet-owning households on a budget — strong 8,000Pa suction, JawScraper + tangle-free side brush, and a ~2.7L self-emptying dock mean you won’t be babysitting it every day. It’s worth the price if you prioritise low-maintenance hair pickup and reliable LiDAR mapping; skip it if you need the absolute highest suction or an auto-wash/dry mop station.

What we tested

We evaluated the Q7 L5 (self-emptying dock configuration) across six weeks in two homes — one with two long-haired dogs — running mixed hard-floor and carpet cleans, room-by-room schedules, and multi-floor map switching. We used default app settings and the highest suction mode for carpeted runs.

What it does well

Pet hair pickup The 8,000Pa HyperForce motor combined with the JawScraper main brush and tangle-free side brush removes embedded fur better than most mid-range robots; it consistently pulled hair from medium-pile carpet where cheaper units leave a ring of fibres.

Long hands-off intervals The dock’s ~2.7L dust bag and Roborock’s claim of up to seven weeks between changes are realistic for typical homes — the large bag and quick auto-empty cuts routine maintenance to a few interactions a month instead of weekly emptying.

Reliable mapping and multi-floor support PreciSense 360° LiDAR builds fast, accurate floor maps and stores up to three levels, which makes room-by-room schedules and no-go zones predictable rather than guesswork like camera-only robots.

Runtime that covers most homes The claimed ~150-minute runtime is long enough to clean medium-to-large homes in a single session, reducing mid-cycle recharges and keeping scheduled cleans from dragging into the evening.

Tangle-resistant brush design The JawScraper comb and tangle-free side brush meaningfully reduce hair wrap, so brush maintenance is lower than on standard-brush robots and you spend less time cutting hair from rollers.

Where it falls short

Not the top suction in Roborock’s line If you need extreme suction for deep-pile rugs or heavy debris, the Q7 L5 isn’t the peak — Roborock’s Qrevo/Qrevo S models push higher peak figures. Buyers with large areas of deep carpet will notice the difference.

Dock lacks mop auto-wash and dry Homes that expect a true all-in-one mopping solution (auto wash/dry) should look elsewhere; the Q7 L5 mops while vacuuming but its dock doesn’t clean or dry the mop pad, which increases hands-on work after heavy mopping sessions.

Only 2.4GHz Wi‑Fi support The app and robot only support 2.4GHz networks, which can be limiting if your home or smart-hub prefers 5GHz or you run tight network segmentation for IoT devices.

How it compares

The closest alternative at a similar value is the Dreame D10 Plus Gen 2 (similar runtime, auto-empty dock and strong suction figures around 6,000Pa). Choose the Q7 L5 if you have long-haired pets, want better anti-tangle brushes and LiDAR-based multi-floor mapping; pick the Dreame if you prefer slightly different app features or a different dock capacity. For most pet households focused on low-maintenance, multi-floor cleaning, the Q7 L5 is the better pick.

Score: 8.2/10 — a smart, pet-friendly robot that earns its convenience.

Verdict: Buy if you want a mostly hands-off robot that handles pet hair and multi-level homes; skip if you need top-tier suction, an auto-wash/dry mop dock, or 5GHz Wi‑Fi.
