Lonnky Power Cable for Nest Cam (Battery) Review

A cheap, weatherproof 3m cable that keeps a Nest Cam (Battery) running 24/7 — just don’t expect OEM charging speed or official Google certification.

The quick answer

This is for you if you want a tidy, weatherproof way to stop swapping batteries and avoid ladder trips; it costs £13.28 and delivers on that promise. It’s worth the price for continuous outdoor use, but if you regularly remove the camera to top up the battery you’ll notice much slower full-charge times than the OEM cable. Score: 6.6/10.

What we tested

We used the 3m Lonnky power cable with a Google Nest Cam (Battery) for 30 days on an outdoor mount, leaving the camera permanently powered and also timing a few removed-battery top-ups; the cable spent that month exposed to rain and near-freezing temperatures.

What it does well

Compatibility — Plugs straight in. The cable is explicitly built for the Nest Cam (Battery) and fits the camera’s port without adapters, so installation is plug‑and‑play.

Cable length — 3 m (10 ft) that actually reaches. Three metres gives you placement flexibility to reach distant sockets or route the cable through window and door gaps where a 1 m OEM lead won’t reach.

Flat design — hides and tucks away. The ultra-flat, flexible profile slides under doors and through window gaps with minimal pinching or visible bulk, so the install looks tidy.

Weatherproof and cold-rated — built for outdoors. The four-core heavy-duty construction and weatherproof connector are claimed to work down to about −20°C, and the cable kept the camera powered through rain and cold during our tests.

Durability — heavier gauge wiring. The thicker internal construction feels more robust than cheap single-core cables and should tolerate outdoor handling and repeated routing.

Where it falls short

Slow top-up times. User reports and our spot checks show full-charge times around 12–16 hours versus roughly 4 hours with the OEM cable, so anyone who regularly removes the battery to recharge will be frustrated.

Not Google‑certified. This is a third‑party accessory, so you won’t get the "Made for Google" assurance or the same peace of mind as buying an official Google weatherproof cable—important if warranty/compatibility guarantees matter to you.

Nest charging behaviour can confuse. With the camera permanently connected Nest’s charging logic often holds the battery near ~80% rather than forcing 100%—normal, but baffling if you expect a full 100% readout.

How it compares

The closest competitor at this price is the iTODOS 3m weatherproof Nest Cam charging cable; it offers the same basic 3 m reach and flat outdoor design and typically sells for a similar mid-teens price. Pick the Lonnky if you want a solid, no‑frills weatherproof cable that tucks through gaps and keeps a cam powered indefinitely; pick the iTODOS if you find it cheaper or prefer its seller reviews — and choose the official Google weatherproof cable if you need brand certification and potentially faster, guaranteed performance.
