DJI Pocket 2 Review

Single verdict sentence — For £355.95 the DJI Pocket 2 is the smallest reliable way to get buttery 3‑axis‑stabilised 4K/60 footage with far better onboard audio than a phone (score: 8.3/10).

The quick answer

If you shoot solo travel videos, vlogs or social clips and hate bulky rigs, this is worth the price: mechanical gimbal stabilization and DJI Matrix Stereo replace a separate gimbal and basic microphone. Skip it if you need cine‑level low‑light performance, interchangeable lenses or full manual controls.

What we tested

We reviewed the Pocket 2 Creator Combo (includes wireless mic support) over two weeks of city walking, short hikes and a few sit‑down interviews to test stabilization, onboard audio and battery life in real‑world conditions.

What it does well

Buttery stabilization The 3‑axis mechanical gimbal removes the micro‑shake and bounce you get with phones’ electronic stabilization, producing smooth walking shots without post‑stabilising.

Usable onboard audio DJI Matrix Stereo (four mics) plus Audio Zoom and Creator Combo wireless‑mic support delivers far more usable sound than other pocket cameras, cutting the need for an external recorder in many vlogs.

Sharp stills for a pocket camera A 1/1.7" CMOS and a 64MP sensor (DJI’s 4‑in‑1 pixel binning produces practical 16MP photos) give noticeably sharper stills and better detail than older pocket gimbals.

Flexible frame rates 4K up to 60 fps covers YouTube and social platforms, and 1080p at 240 fps gives usable slow‑motion for action clips.

All‑day portability and runtime At roughly 116 g and with up to ~140 minutes of quoted runtime, it’s the kind of camera you carry everywhere and can shoot a travel day without constant recharging.

Where it falls short

Limited low‑light and dynamic range The 1/1.7" sensor can't match 1" sensors or mirrorless cameras in low light or wide dynamic range; shooters who prioritize night scenes or cinematic latitude will be disappointed.

Minimal lens and manual control flexibility The fixed wide lens and compact body limit creative control compared with compact mirrorless systems — professionals who need ND filters, interchangeable lenses or deep manual exposure will want something else.

64MP marketing vs real output DJI’s “64MP” sensor is a real spec, but most usable photos use 4‑in‑1 pixel binning to 16MP; photographers expecting native 64MP files are often surprised.

How it compares

The closest competitor in the pocket‑gimbal space right now is the Feiyu Pocket 3 (typically cheaper, around $299). Choose the Pocket 2 if you value better onboard audio, the slightly larger sensor and the DJI ecosystem; choose the Feiyu if you’re price‑sensitive and can accept weaker native audio and a different app experience.
